BukChon is located between GyeongBokGung Palace, ChangDeokGung Palace, and JongMyo Shrine,

and it is an area where traditional Korean houses, or hanok, are densely clustered.

The name BukChon literally means “northern village,” as it is situated north of CheongGyeCheon Stream and JongNo.

The neighborhood has a history of about 600 years.

It is still a residential area, and in recent years, architects and artists have opened studios and workshops within BukChon. There are also galleries and cafés, making it a place full of things to see and enjoy.
